ABSTRACT

Situated on the shores of Xuan Huong Lake in the heart of Da Lat, HAUS Da Lat redefines the relationship between architecture and Vietnam's highland landscape. The design draws inspiration from the surrounding pine forest, with staggered balconies that evoke the layered texture of pine cones—shading interiors while framing views of the lake beyond.

Materiality softens the structure's presence: timber is used extensively for cladding, structure, and hand-carved details, grounding the architecture in warmth and craftsmanship. At ground level, a monumental wooden gate marks the threshold, opening onto a conserved pine forest interwoven with pathways and pavilions. Native planting and preserved trees ensure the landscape remains integral, not incidental.

The result is not a building set within nature, but one that emerges from it—quiet, textured, and deeply attuned to place.
