ABSTRACT
This project entails the design and construction of a mid-to-high-end residential condominium located on the oceanfront of Ilhéus, in the state of Bahia, Brazil. Known for its rich literary history and stunning Atlantic coastline, Ilhéus provides a unique cultural and natural setting for the development.
The building’s orientation is carefully calibrated to maximize ocean exposure, ensuring that all residential units benefit from generous natural light and prevailing sea breezes. Expansive glazed openings and deep terraces frame uninterrupted views of the Atlantic while promoting passive cross-ventilation and energy efficiency.
At the rooftop level, a panoramic terrace features a reflecting pool that visually merges with the ocean horizon, offering residents an immersive sensory connection to the sea. This space is conceived as both a leisure amenity and a contemplative belvedere, capturing the luminous quality of the Bahian coastline.
The façade composition employs locally sourced stone, selected for its durability and chromatic resonance with the region’s coastal geography, alongside soft, neutral-toned renders. This restrained material palette grounds the building in its place, allowing it to dialogue discreetly with the landscape while maintaining a contemporary architectural identity.
The project balances tropical sensibility with contemporary residential standards, delivering oceanfront living rooted in local context, environmental comfort, and material authenticity.
